My fifth piece is based on the Eiffel Tower. I decided to cut out pieces from magazines and wrapping paper and glue them together to take a break from drawing and painting. It's not quite finished yet - I still need to add more details to the tower and somehow incorporate the aliens (I tried making the mom out of cut paper but it looked disastrous so I'm probably going to draw them and paste them on). I'm worried right now that this piece doesn't really fit in with the rest of my concentration.

Right now my fourth piece is in progress. It's based on the Golden Gate Bridge. The perspective is supposed to be from a shuttle traveling in the air above the land. I decided to a painting because I haven't done any yet this semester and I chose acrylic because it dries more quickly and it's easier to do the details. I still have a lot of work left to do. I have to finish the landscape, the bridge itself, the interior of the shuttle, and the characters. I also want to try to add a glare to the window to make it look like a window and not just an opening. I might go in and do a black outline on everything when I'm completely finished, too. I need to begin working more efficiently and finish more pieces, but it's been difficult with all of the school days we've had off.
Right now I have two pieces finished and two in-progress/being planned. I finished my piece based on London. I really like the way the eye turned out. I think it draws the viewer's attention. I'm feeling kind of meh about the rest of the piece. I think the composition could have been a little better (more depth) and there could be more in the background. I'm also not really vibing with my iteration of Big Ben. It looks a little awkward in the overall piece. I also finished my piece based on the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I decided to only have the dad alien in this. I think throughout my concentration (sustained investigation?) I'm going to do a mixture of including the entire family and just choosing one or two members. I also want to put some other aliens in the backgrounds of my pieces, something I haven't done so far. I think it will be more dynamic like that. I also want to try out more interesting compositions and make some more detailed pieces.
This week I've been working on my first two concentration pieces. The first one is based on the pyramids of Giza and the second one is based on the London eye and Big Ben. I finished drawing out my first piece in pen. All that's left is to do is fill in the color. I found reference photos for, sketched out, and drew the second piece in pen. This weekend I plan to fill in my London piece with color and plan out my third piece. In the future my goals are to move more quickly, since I've technically been working on my concentration for the past several weeks and I haven't completely finished anything yet. I think I need to spend less time on planning and less time hesitating to start final pieces.
